REALITY Events Guidelines

Thank you for reaching out to REALITY about hosting your event here!

We have a few different rules and requirements we need to follow to ensure the accessibility of the space, and the success of events for us and you and guests and neighbors and whoever else.

General Rules

  1. 1.

We ask that everyone in the space respect everyone else in the space–this goes for all guests, all staff, all anybody who even just walks in for two seconds.

  2. 2.

We ask that all guests purchase at least a drink while they are using the space. We need to pay our landlord, our staff, our suppliers, the tax man, etc. etc. etc., and serving drinks is the way we can try and do that.

  3. 3.

We do not allow outside food or drink, except when pre-approved by management. This is both for the reason above, and because we want to be sure that anything consumed on our premises meets our safety and quality standards.

  4. 4.

Our general rules still always apply: no smoking inside, no smoking non-tobacco even outside, no pets that aren't very small and don't always stay on-leash right with their owner, and the third floor patio must close at midnight.

For Public Community Events

  1. 1.

We can work with you to reserve the amount of space needed for your event, and help set up the space and equipment to facilitate your planned activities.

  2. 2.

For event materials and announcements, we're happy to help spread the word and collaborate on online marketing (see: How REALITY Can Help with Promotion). Please follow our brand guidelines below so we can help spread the word, and please make sure to include something along the lines of "Please buy a drink from REALITY to support the business!" in event descriptions so that guests aren't surprised or feel like they got tricked into something.

  3. 3.

If you're holding a public event that has an entry fee, you can either rent the space (as detailed in the section below), or split the cost of entry with REALITY 50/50.

  4. 4.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the event to help facilitate setup–ensure the tables and chairs are arranged as you need, ensure the right cords are there to connect with the projector or speakers, etc.

For Private or For-Profit Events

  1. 1.

To reserve a whole room (and restrict access to other guests), or to present a commercial good or service, we require a rental fee, based on the room in mind, day of the week, time of day, and length of the event.

  2. 2.

If you've got special requests or requirements, please discuss them with us as we're scheduling the event to make sure we can work them out.

For Classes

  1. 1.

While we can't guarantee private space for classes without room rental, we do welcome teachers to hold regular classes in our space. Please talk to a member of management to discuss your needs and figure out if REALITY is a good fit for them.

Branding Guidelines

As we hold a variety of events from a multitude of communities, we need to maintain a strong visual and brand identity so as not to become diluted.

For your materials:

  1. 1.

For materials you distribute, please refer to and stylize REALITY as "REALITY", "REALITY - Đà Nẵng" (including diacritics), "REALITY - cafe / bar / spaces", or "REALITY - coffee / cocktails / community" if you're feeling like a really long one.

  2. 2.

Please incorporate our logo into any visual assets you produce for your event.

For materials we promote through our socials:

  1. 1.

For event materials we promote through our socials, we accept photographs of people only if they are the featured speaker/performer/subject of the event or in the case of stills from a film that will be shown.

  2. 2.

We strongly prefer materials include both English and Vietnamese text (and any other appropriate language for the event), and for Vietnamese to be presented with proper diacritical marks ("86 Mai Thúc Lân" not "86 Mai Thuc Lan").

How REALITY Can Help with Promotion

We, of course, want every event at REALITY to be a success, and we want to help make them so.

The ways we can help:

  • We are happy to make a poster for your public event in our own house style to be used on our own social channels (and yours, if you like!). Just send us any relevant visual assets (logo, art, etc.) at least a week before your event.

  • We will add your event to our calendar, the other event calendars we post on, create a Facebook event for it, and post about it in our active WhatsApp Community.

  • We will repost Instagram stories you tag us in and "collaborate" on posts you invite us to in a way that makes sense for our feed. (i.e. if you're creating 20 stories a day, we'll repost some and skip others)

The ways you can help:

  • Post the event to relevant Facebook groups, WhatsApp Groups, and other social channels you think would be interested.

  • If you choose to print postcards or flyers, please post them wherever, and leave some at REALITY so we can reinforce the awareness there.

  • If you think of other ways we could collaborate to help spread awareness, please pitch us! We host a lot of public events per week, so our bandwidth is somewhat limited, but if there's something we can do and it's within our means, we'd love to help.
